This book is about a mermaid who likes writing in her journal. She has a giant shrimp, who is her pet. Her brother is allergic to the giant shrimp, so it has to go. She hides it, and it comes back. It's usually close to her, in her room, or closet. The shrimp saves her from a few sharks. After that, the shrimp comes to visit while her brother is not around.

There are lots of pictures, mostly pictures that are saying things. Some of them are funny. It looks really funny how they are drawn.

The funniest part is when Cora (the main character), gets really angry, because the picture looks funny, and I know how it feels to be angry like that.

I didn't like that she's supposed to be in third grade, but she acts like she's in kindergarten. There's a few things, like all that screaming, and she doesn't know how to study.

This book is good for people who like things in the ocean, including mermaids, who like pets, or who like writing about things that happen to them.
