This book is about a girl who wants to do her own things. She learns about independence in Boston, and she lives in America. And learns about Ben Franklin and Paul Revere. She writes a list of what things she wants to be free from doing, or free to do. Things like freedom from brushing hair, from little brothers, from doing homework, and other funny things. She reads it to her parents, and they think that it's funny.
She reads a book about Sybil Ludington, who helped with independence. When her brother falls asleep on the bus, she gets on her bike and rides after, and when he wakes up they both go home.
Their mom is mad at Judy, because they are late, and her brother tells what happened. After that is when they made a little code and a trail for her to follow. In the end, they give her a tiny bit more of what she wanted.
The funniest part was when she made her own trail of freedom, in her house, going from room to room, and leaving signs behind. I think it's funny, because when she went along the trail of freedom in Boston, she got the idea, and did it in her own house.
My favourite part was when she met the girl from England, and they got to be good friends. The friend from England likes to collect sugar packets, and when Judy Moodie finds out how fun it is, she starts doing it too.
I think the illustrator was good at drawing people.
